In the beggining of IXX century, grandfather Alfredo I bought a farmer house with cow-house and he transformed it in a restaurant with some rooms to rent. In that period there was not tourism in Val di Sole yet. So the restaurant was bended to the business men in transition. The restaurant business was not enought for the family need, and granddad Alfredo I decided to keep the farmhouse with horses, cows and pigs. In addition next door to the restaurant he was carrying out two extra activities: a supermarket and a mercery. In 1951 Alfredo I died and grandmum Caterina kept working even if with lots of difficulies because above of all businesses she had to look after 4 kids (Bruno, Rita, Anita and Adriana). In the '60 summer tourism started to develope and some customers from the north of Italy starded to come to the mountains for escursions and to meet up (the customers used to be the same from year to year), play some games, listen to the piano bar or have some pic-nic all together. Tourism business started to improve, so grandmum Caterina decided to leave farm activities. In the same period Bruno, her first son, started helping out running the business, and thanks to the increase of the tourism they started to extend and impove the structure. In the '65 Bruno married Gina who placesided byside her husband in the hotel activity, helping out in the kitchen and taking care of the "house". Gina gave bird three kids: Erica, Roberta and Alfredo II. In the beggining of '70 Caterina's daughters got married and Bruno started running the business on his own. In the same period the first Marilleva's ski station opened and the winter tourism started too. Now Ravelli's family decided to close all the other activities and to focus only to tourism business. Thank to the business develope, Bruno and Gina, always with grandmum Caterina's help, kept investing their money for the hotel's improvements. In '91 Bruno and Gina bought a second hotel for their son Alfredo II who, after different work experiences in Italy and abroad, was ready to start to run his own hotel. In '96 Alfredo II married Cinzia who decided to help out his husband taking care of all business paper and looking after the "house". In the same year they started an important enlargement of the Hotel Ravelli which, in July '97 began Hotel Palace Ravelli****. In September '97 Alessio Ravelli was born (fourth generation??). Unfortunately to the good news follows a big lost... Bruno died after a short illness. He didn't even manage to see the results of his hard work. Then Alfredo took over the Palace Hotel Ravelli and Cinzia kept looking after the Sporting Hotel. Alfredo's sisters got married and Alfredo and Cinzia , always with mum Gina and grandmum Caterina's support kept going with this business. and they really do a good job. Because for them it's not only a job, but it's their passion!!! |
